This optional upgrade allows ATS9360 to perform analog to digital conversion based on an external clock signal. It provides an SMA input for an external clock signal, which can be a sine wave or square wave signal. Two software selectable modes of external clocking are supported: user supplies a 10 MHz reference clock and the on-board VCO locks to it; or Fast External Clock whereby ATS9360 takes one sample for each cycle of the user-supplied clock. Fast External clock frequency must remain in the specified range of 300 MHz to 1.8 GHz.
For customers whose external clocks may go lower than 300 MHz during the acquisition, it is possible to have AlazarTech screen the ATS9360 boards for external clock operation down to 75 MHz by ordering:

ATS9360 External Clocking Use
ATS9360 External Clock Upgrade allows you to supply the ADC clock. Fast External Clock is the ideal clocking scheme for OCT applications.
External Clock is extremely important in many RF applications in which phase measurements must be made between the inputs themselves or between the inputs and an external event. The 10 MHz Reference Clock is useful for RF systems that use a common 10 MHz reference clock.
